Lilies

I worked recently for a guesthouse. I had to realise wall plaques for the different rooms, and only flowers, supposed to match with the deco of each room. Here is one of the subjects.

Douglas

This is Doug, a Jack Russel adored by all who see or know him. He is the very first pet to be exhibited as part of our exciting venture into the pet gallery. Born in 2007, he sends all who visits his site a friendly paw and eagerly awaits comments about his endearing, mischievious portrait.

A proud lioness

The pride of South Africa, is this lioness, staring silently and intently into the African bush waiting for an opportunity to stil a basic need. The lioness however also instils a sense of peace, evident by the contrast between the dark and light. She is indeed one of my favourite works of art.

English roses

I realised this subject to use it for a workshop. This kind of activity starts about 9h30 AM and finishes around 3h30 PM. The next photos are from the workshop itself, in such a short time it's definitely not easy to find out all the secrets of the technique of pastel, but you might be surprised of the result at the end of the day!

Roses

This is my first watercolor, yes, I also tried this technique. I didn't focus for the moment, wait and see...

Roses in the garden

Here is my second watercolor. I realised the 3 watercolor at the same period. I was in the mood for that I suppose.

Innocence

This is my third watercolor! I think this technique is the most difficult in art to manage. Water is definitely not easy to control, if you get too impatient, all the pigments are mixed together with the water, and if you wait too much you can't mix the pigments, what a nightmare! BUT one day I will only concentrate on this technique, because the effects obtained are so amazing, you play with the transparency of the paper, which is not the case with none of the other techniques. This artwork is gone to France with Laurence who I met in Port Elizabeth.

Still life

Another recent drawing, I enjoyed playing with the shapes of the fruits. Everybody knows that it's always one of the first challenge we have to face when we go to art school. So it's not so bad to practise again sometines!

Isabella's drawing

You will see further the same little girl but realised in oil. I also enjoy drawing, it's the beginning of something everytime, it always gives the first impressions and feelings before you put colors on it, and that, as an artist, is the essence of creation.

The gift of a girl

Again I decided to work a subject related to warm colors. This little girl looks so innocent and not worried about all the difficulties happening in this big world!

Mother and child 2

Another part of Africa, also amazing from their culture the way they get dressed. The mother close to her child as a sign of protection, this time the effects and feelings can all come from the warm colors coming out of the clothes. Contrast between dark and light is strong as well.

Macaw

Nature is amazing and this parrot proves it with all the vibrant colors from its feathers. I'm glad to say that this artwork will probably be located soon to Germany with some of my friends.

Same subject, but a bit closer, so we can appreciate a bit more the effects realised from the charcoals.

Another bird

No comments, I just like the colors for this subject.

size: 35 x 35cm

Purple Prairie

This landscape was a comission. Somebody wanted a vast prairie with purple flowers as dominant colors in the foreground, and mountains from South Africa in the background. Creation is the most difficult part, when you start from nothing, but it's also the most important feeling you have to develop to progress as an artist.

Birds on a branch

In this pastel, i tried to show the sensation of peace with those two little birds on a branch. This impression is also coming from the soft colours used for the subject.
